The Barney–Hahira–Tifton Loop
One of our favorite day trips from Moultrie combines farm markets, local dining, and a little treasure hunting.
Begin with a short drive east to Barney, Georgia, where Burton Brooks Orchard has been a South Georgia favorite for generations. Depending on the season, you’ll find fresh peaches, strawberries, tomatoes, squash, pecans, and other locally grown produce. It’s also a great place to stop for homemade ice cream and a few treats for the road.
From Barney, continue to Hahira and enjoy a relaxed meal at Fancy Girl Farms. Set on a beautiful farm property, this farm-to-table restaurant has become a destination in its own right. The menu changes with the seasons and showcases fresh ingredients grown and sourced locally.
After lunch, head north to Tifton for an afternoon of browsing. Downtown Tifton offers several antique, consignment, and vintage shops where you never know what you’ll discover—from unique furniture pieces to collectibles and unexpected treasures. It’s a fun way to experience a different South Georgia downtown while hunting for that one item you didn’t know you needed.
The entire loop can easily be driven in reverse as well. Many guests enjoy spending the afternoon shopping in Tifton, followed by dinner at Fancy Girl Farms before returning to Moultrie. If Burton Brooks Orchard is still open on the way home, a stop for ice cream makes a perfect ending to the day.
Allow four to six hours, depending on how long you linger along the way.
